Electrical Stress Control
The reliable operation of cable accessories mainly depends on whether the end electric field stress at the cable shield cut-off point can be properly dissipated. The heat shrinkage should be controlled so that the material used in the control tube has a volume resistivity and dielectric constant that match the electric field of the cable at the connection point. During operation, a certain characteristic impedance is formed at the end of the cable shield, playing a role in electrical stress dissipation, thereby ensuring the reliability and extending the service life of the heat-shrinkable cable accessories.
